Penton Audio Announces UAP88 - 'The Easy DSP'

Pawtucket, RI April 1, 2006. Penton Audio has announced, as part of its growing line of DSP audio products, the UAP88 - called 'The Easy DSP'. Based on industry standard SHARC™ chip technology, the UAP88 is a 'drag-and-drop' 8-input 8-output audio processor, with the unique feature of having 8 programmable controls on the front panel. These controls can be assigned to any DSP function within the software (volume, level, tone, etc.), creating a very user-friendly front panel control system. External control is available in a variety of methods - RS-232 for AMX™ or Crestron™ support, Penton's own RAC5 and RAC8 analog remote controls, or even user-provided external potentiometers via VCA inputs. Additionally there are 8 logic control inputs for triggering presets, mutes, and other functions, as well as 8 logic control outputs to control outboard gear. A control monitor window in the Windows XP-based software allows the installer to create a control window that only allows those controls needed by the end user to be visible. And a host of unique, very user-friendly software features combine with the very flexible hardware system to make the UAP88 truly be 'The Easy DSP'.

"Drag-and-Drop" DSP meets Power Amplifier

Pawtucket, RI Feb 1, 2006. Penton Audio has announced a unique family of Digital Signal Processing Amplifiers that combine the ease of drag-and-drop software with a modular power amplifier in a single package.

Called DSPA, the basic platform is designed to accommodate up to four 70v amplifier modules, ranging from 30 to 240 watts each. Models are factory-configured with a software program designed to meet each desired audio application.

With 12 different models in the initial release, each with its own unique pre-loaded configuration, most common audio situations can be addressed without having to connect a computer to complete the installation. Of course, the installer may completely reconfigure the design if desired.

Each model offers 8 front panel controls. Where fewer user controls are desired, the unneeded knobs are removed and a different faceplate applied that describes the programmed function of the remaining controls.

According to Penton engineers, "we're excited to provide the contractor with this flexible and cost effective design. Combining software and DSP with a modular power amp in one package is a no-brainer . . . we're just surprised no one has done it before".

For over 25 years, Penton Audio has provided quality audio products to over 13 countries, and supports a large dealer base in the United States.
